Who would have thought a virus visible only through the lens of an electron microscope can literally pause everything in this world? Rich, poor, powerful, weak- despite everyone’s status COVID-19 has affected almost all the aspects of life around the globe. People have varied perspectives towards the crisis. Still, many are arguing to prove their points right. Thousands of people passed away. Thousands are battling for life in hospitals and houses. It’s the time of uncertainty, being helpless in planning for the future . It proved how meaningless human abilities are. All the technical empires we made, all the attitudes of pride about human inventions became helpless in front of a single virus.
As I write this, my prayers go to the people who are suffering due to this pandemic. Many are fighting against this pandemic in the front line and I respect them and I am praying for them. I pray that this pandemic will end soon and this world will propel forward with renewed mind and strength like never before. But It’s very important to embrace what we learned from this season and pursue the life God gave us according to His will after the quarantine.
One of my hobby is to watch documentaries which gives the insight on what happens around the world. I don’t believe in living in my own world ignoring what happens around the world. There were times I was in tears after watching the suffering people go through in different parts of the world. The sad reality is often times we ignore the downtrodden due to a rotten mindset ‘as long as it doesn't affect me I don’t have to worry about it’. I believe it’s very important to see every human being in this world through the eyes of Jesus Christ! When we live in a society filled with pleasures and luxuries of this world, often times we become blind to see the reality of our fellow brothers and sisters suffering. Can I afford to stay hungry for days? I don’t think so, can you? I am not very positive. Even if you are hungry, there is a high possibility for you to get the food you need when you live in the epic center of luxury. But for the people who live in the places filled with wilderness and poverty all they can do is just look into the hungry eyes of their fellow brothers and sisters who shares their same hunger and emotions of helplessness.
I often think if every country in this world had true compassion towards its people we could have fed many hungry stomach and support the life of the most vulnerable people. We could have avoided many humanitarian crisis in this world.
Will COVID-19 become a global issue if it was only in a slum of one country ? Does anyone care? Will those talking about COVID-19, trying to prove their points in social media now, do the same if it affected only a minority in the wilderness of a third world country?
Some may think COVID-19 is the biggest global crisis, but I believe that this is just another global crisis added along with many others passed on to generations after generations, and were neglected due to selfishness and absolute demonic greed.
I think COVID-19 became a global crisis because it affected a so called society.
From the past decade, millions are suffering without even meeting basic human needs and freedom around the globe. It’s an undeniable truth that we ignored them on our pursuit of securing our own life and on the pursuit to satisfy the desires of our flesh. We thought we are secure and nothing around the world bothers us but this pandemic proved it’s not your wealth, social status, education, business empire that help us to live but absolutely the GRACE of the almighty God.
This pandemic season taught a lesson to every selfish people like us about how weak we are in all the aspects of life if God’s grace is not with us.
Jesus expressed the value of a single soul through a profound parable of the lost sheep.
Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:3-7
I believe this is a God given opportunity for us to learn from this pandemic and quarantine, how much we should be grateful to God for everything he has provided for us and how much it’s important to see one another greater than our-self.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Philippians 2:3
I believe even in the christian world it’s time for us to repent with true heart to seek God’s face and take our position as a child of God and walk through the ways our savior Jesus Christ has showed us. It’s time for us to change our focus from ‘it’s all about us’ to ‘it’s all about Him - Jesus Christ!’
Take a decision in God’s presence that you will change and become who God wants you to be. Everything happens around the world tell us that Jesus Christ is coming back soon. Before it’s too late, let’s become the true disciple of Jesus Christ and use this quarantine season to analyze our own life and mistakes and ask for forgiveness. And God will surely honor hearts with sincere repentance.
As the whole world is slowly coming out of quarantine, let’s together take some significant decisions in life and accomplish those decisions by trusting the Lord alone.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, Hebrews 12:1
Remember its God’s grace that sustains us!
